Completed study program: Social Work (Diploma)
Johannes Scheiber
When I look back at my time at MCI...
...I think of the many friendships and experiences I was able to form during my studies. The outstanding teachers at MCI provided practice-relevant knowledge, encouraged critical thinking and interesting discussions. The exchange with other students helped me to develop my professional identity as a social worker.
How did your studies at MCI prepare you for your current job?
After graduating with a Master's degree in Social Work, I began an extended journey that eventually led me to Australia. There I was able to gain practical work experience as a case manager and eventually took over the management of a youth homeless facility in Adelaide, Australia. The systemic mindset and entrepreneurial approach taught at MCI helped me to develop new projects and ideas in my daily practice. The international context as well as the holistic education at MCI prepared me in a perfect way for this career.
What would you tell someone who is considering studying at MCI?
The quality of the program can definitely hold its own in an international context and there is a good mix of practical and theoretical learning content. The location of the MCI and the view of the Tyrolean mountains help to master the balance between studies, work and leisure. I would advise new students to take advantage of the MCI's international program and to participate intensively in the discussions.
Our students share their experiences and give insights into courses, projects, and student life in the vibrant Alpine city of Innsbruck.
