Innsbruck meets Hamburg.

Date 2022-05-20

The “Deutsche Freundeskreis der Innsbrucker Universitäten” invited by the freenet AG in Hamburg.

"Universities meet friends - Innsbruck meets Hamburg!" Under this inviting motto, the German Circle of Friends of the Innsbruck Universities e.V.. (DFK) together with the University of Innsbruck, Medical University of Innsbruck and MCI were guests at the freenet AG in Hamburg.

Whereas in previous years the event had already welcomed illustrious names such as the Austrian government members Alexander Schallenberg, Sebastian Kurz, Reinhold Mitterlehner, Karlheinz Töchterle, Hans Jörg Schelling or Governor Günther Platter, this year Christoph Vilanek, CEO of the freenet AG invited to Hamburg and provided insight into the exciting topic "Digital Lifestyle - a curse or a blessing?" The freenet AG is Germany's largest mobile communications provider without its own network.

Christoph Vilanek began his professional career at the publishing house Time-Life International. Before joining online fashion retailer boo. com, he held various positions in the mail order business. In 2001, he joined the management consultancy McKinsey. Before his first appointment as CEO of freenet AG on May 1, 2009, Vilanek had already spent four years in numerous functions within the scope of customer communication, development, support and retention at debitel AG in Stuttgart.

The topic addressed was comprehensively illuminated and offered deep insight into the globally interconnected world.

DFK Chairman Andreas Altmann is convinced that the mission of the German Circle of Friends has been fulfilled: to bring together the University of Innsbruck, the Medical University of Innsbruck and MCI | The Entrepreneurial University® with renowned personalities, companies and institutions from the fields of science, business and society, to promote neighborly dialog and encounter, and to promote scientific excellence and outstanding academic achievement.
