Research into alternatives to extend the shelf life of food

Harald Schöbel wants to use UV-C radiation to make food last longer. The superficial treatment with artificial UV-C light is a good alternative to heating or preservatives. The UV-C radiation is also promising for use outside of the food industry. For example, there are possible uses for cosmetics or paints.

Find out more about how the UV-C radiation is used:

Harald Schöbel explains the technology.

Extend the shelf life of organic products with UV light? Enjoy food without artificially synthesized ingredients for longer? Is that a contradiction or technically possible?
