The first Living Lab of Ulysseus opened on March 21 in Nice as part of the Innovation Hub of Ageing & Well-Being

For two days, representatives of the Ulysseus alliance gathered in Nice to participate in the first summit of the year. For this occasion, the Ulysseus innovation ecosystem played a special role with the organisation of various activities related to innovation.

One of the key activities of the summit was the opening on March 21 of the first Ulysseus Living Lab based in Nice. This living laboratory is led by the Innovation Hub of and managed by Professor David Darmon (Physician, Vice-President of Health at the Université Côte d'Azur).

Jeanick Brisswalter, President of Université Côte d’Azur, officially opened the living lab during a press conference held at the Innovation Hub of  . During his presentation he stated that “Université Côte d'Azur Innovation Hub "can coordinate many research and innovation initiatives on the territory of ageing and is also a way to create a continuum between fundamental research and the creation of start-ups". Also, he underlined the importance on this subject for their region and in Europe.

Carmen Vargas, Ulysseus coordinator, David Damon, Vice-president for Health at Université Côte d’Azur, Richard Chemlla, Official from the City of Nice, and Frédérique Vida, Former Minister for Higher Education also attended this event.

Ulysseus Innovation Ecosystem

The Living Lab is based on a methodology where users are at the centre of the research and innovation process. It will be a place for full-scale testing of new services, tools or uses, where local authorities, companies, associations, research laboratories and potential users will cooperate.

As part of the Ulysseus Innovation Ecosystem, the Innovation Hub of Ageing & Well-Being aims at creating a «living laboratory » that will include a learning Lab, a start-up incubator, a data warehouse and the Living Lab. These tools will enable the development of new technologies, the improvement of care and assistance to people.

The Living Laboratory will be a space for sharing knowledge, technologies, and exchanges on the societal challenges of tomorrow. It will offer unique conditions for research and experimentation.

Match4Cooperation

Additionally, the Digitalization Unit of Ulysseus based at Université Cotê D’Azur launched Match4Cooperation, an app that will contribute to the regional and local development by serving as a virtual meeting point for key stakeholders within the community, with the aim of bringing solutions to market on challenges.

This is a unique social network that allows the Ulysseus research community to exchange on their work and collaborate on European Union calls and other public or private opportunities. That is, it connects Ulysseus academics, raising an equal level of awareness about EU research calls for projects and to promote research mobility within Ulysseus.
