The Austrian Boys' Day offers young men between the ages of 12 and 18 the opportunity to explore social or socio-educational professions that are traditionally dominated by women - for example in the fields of social services, education, and care.
The aim is to encourage young men to consider gender-atypical professions. Boys' Day also encourages them to reflect on images of masculinity and their own life planning and promotes the development of important social skills.
MCI took part in Boys' Day for the first time this year and offered the participating boys a varied program. The boys were welcomed by Lukas Kerschbaumer and Belachew Gebrewold, both heads of social studies programs at MCI. They were able to gain an insight into the study opportunities for social professions at the MCI.
They were accompanied through the morning by graduates and staff from the social studies programs. Workshops and various stations gave the boys the opportunity to find out more about social professions. The young people were shown in a practical way how exciting and varied social professions can be. The focus was on showing the young people how cool it is to work as a man in a social profession and to inspire them for a possible future in these occupational fields.
