Third semester bachelor's students gain insights into the destination Lech Zürs

As part of the course "Event Management", the third semester bachelor's students and their lecturer Wolfram Auer traveled to the Destination Partner 2025, Lech Zürs Tourismus, to gain an insight into the destination.

After arriving in Lech am Arlberg, the 70 students from MCI's Tourism, Leisure & Event Management major were warmly welcomed to Lechwelten by Managing Director Hermann Fercher and Head of Marketing Andrea Ruckendorfer. They began with a guided tour of the impressive new building. Hermann Fercher then presented facts and figures about the region in the large hall of Lechwelten and informed the students in detail about the Tourism Mission Statement 2030, the brand profile, and the target groups and markets of Lech Zürs.

After a short trip up the mountain to Oberlech, the students were divided into groups. In addition to personal impressions, they were also given an insight into the Skyspace art installation by US artist James Turrell and the lifestyle boutique hotel Goldener Berg run by the Pfefferkorn family. A relaxing yoga session was also part of the program. After an excellent lunch on the terrace of the Goldener Berg with a view over Lech, the students then traveled home to Innsbruck.

The very next day, the students worked in small groups as part of the event management course to develop both winter and summer events on the theme of ‘life energy’ for the destination of Lech Zürs. These will be evaluated and awarded prizes in December as part of a presentation to a panel of experts and the destination partner. The winners will not only receive attractive prizes, but will also be considered for inclusion in the portfolio.

We would like to thank this year's destination partner Lech Zürs for the great excursion, the presentations, and insights into the destination as well as the great catering on site!
